Last Friday night, Scott and I attended an awards banquet for Utah artists and musicians. Scott was a finalist in the sculpture category. We were honored to be recognized along with painter James Christensen and the legendary Arnold Friberg who won a Lifetime Achievement award.
The event was a kick-off for the Salt Lake Broadway organization, in partnership with Community Alliance. The Salt Lake Broadway organization has a three-fold mission.
Lone Peak Carvings will be at Cowboy Christmas in December with new western arts inspired furniture and gifts. Cowboy Christmas is the longest-running gift and art show held in conjunction with the WNFR in Las Vegas. The 2009 show runs from Dec. 3 – Dec 12.
Over 400 western artists show their western collections which include jewelry, western sculptures, western paintings and prints, western wear and official NFR and PRCA merchandise. It is like a new traveling western art museum every year!
If you are attending the National Finals Rodeo or another Vegas event this December, come see us at Cowboy Christmas at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
Scott completed the first phase of an extensive job for the Wort Hotel in Jackson, WY. The Wort Hotel is an historic luxury hotel in downtown Jackson. The hotel is full of original Western art- paintings, sculptures, etc. We carved doors for ten themed suites such as “The Cowgirl Suite” and the “Silver Dollar Suite”. If you are in Jackson, stop by The Wort, go upstairs and see the incredibly detailed carvings. (Fortunately, the carvings are on the outside of the suites, so you can see them even if you are not staying at the hotel!)
Scott, our son Chase, and I just returned from the Western Design Conference in Jackson, WY. We always enjoy seeing old friends and meeting new western artists. The caliber of art never ceases to amaze and inspire us.
Resort home and ranch property owners from all over the country talked to us about commissioning custom wood carvings for their elegant homes. Scott is now busy creating new designs to complement mountain properties, new lake homes and even a few ocean homes.

Lone Peak Carvings is featured in the October issue of Cowboys & Indians magazine, page 126. Pictures of the hand-carved Cowboy fireplace mantel and two versions of the Bear and Moose carved wood exterior door are included. These custom pieces were designed by our amazing artist Byron Pixton.
LPC will be at the Western Design Conference in Jackson, Wyoming September 10-12. We will exhibit our latest western lodge, wooden carved and hand-hewn mountain furniture. The show includes the finest in cowboy art and western decorating.

The street address is 1693 Mission Drive. We have filled the Design Alternatives showroom with stunning hand-carved wooden fireplace mantels that feature our newest wood designs. Lone Peak Carvings was a featured advertiser in the July 2009 issue of Cowboys & Indians magazine. The cover featured the legendary actor John Wayne.
